Downpipes options.

So, i bought the akrapovic catback system for my 2013 Mini GP.

Well needless to say, the system is rather quiet, almost felt no difference from the factory exhaust system....

I wanted something LOUDER, and i guess the Akrapovic did not do it for me, so i am deciding on getting a Downpipe to bring up the noise level!!

Now i realize there is catless and hi flo cat.
Both of which can cause the CEL regardless which route you go. And even if u tune it to get rid of the CEL, u still might not pass state inspection, due to the readiness.

So if thats the stupid case, why not just get the catless to begin with.

Well anyone have good review / suggestions on which DP is BUILT WITH QUALITY? With some special features that can help lower the CEL from coming on??

Shed some light guys!!!!!!

Unanimous vote will likely be a DP from Mario Kart. That is the direction that I will go when it is time.

I've tried both catless and high flow. The catless was from Way motor works (quality piece of equipment) but was just too loud for me. This was coupled to the stock system with 2nd cat and resonator delete.

I now have the compete Akrapovic including their high flow 100 cel cat and it's perfect for me.

My manic tune gets rid of the CEL and it WILL pass emissions in North Carolina where we just have OBD2 scans.

What state do you live in?

Nothing will be that loud with the stock cat, it's pretty restrictive.

With the full system I've gotten compliments from all types of people, including older non-gearheads.

I have yet to hear it myself from outside the car while it's being driven.

You can pickup used Akrapovic downpipes on the forum marketplace for pretty good prices.

Well factory stock JCW system, has a secondary cat and resonator.
And the Akrapovic only have a resonator.

The Akrapovic sound pretty much like my stock JCW system

I am too disappointed at Akrapovic to want to try their DP at this point, as u know they are not cheap!!

PS: I think it is so quiet because the piping from the muffler to tips is SMALLER diameter than the factory pipe!!

+1 to jonw9 suggestion - Mario Kart's DP claims to have no CEL even without manic tune, many people have backed that up. It is catless and looks very high quality, he's on here and can get in contact with you for more info.

Ok...I bought the Evolve catless DP prob a year ago...sold it great Piece...I just bought another CNT Racing catless DP...To compare the two...For the Price..Prob $100 bucks cheaper the CNT is...It's performing just as well as the Evolve I know Evolve no longer makes there pipe for the R56...So in comparison the CNT does just fine...Little loud which I will put the resonator back on to calm it down sound wise...Just an FYI if people are looking for a CDP or looking at the CNT Racing Catless DP..Just my two cents..Well worth the price fits perfectly...Only difference I could see was the top O2 sensor was or seemed closer to the top of the turbo Evolve has theirs little further away down the pipe top side...
