I'm surprised nobody responded to this yet. Any suggestions?

in general, before applying with tape you want the surface SUPER clean ... no dust, no dirt ... clean up with rubbing alc' .... many times a product that uses double sided tape comes with some 'wipes' to clean the surface ....

you want the tape to find a super smooth and clean surface

It was answered here.

that tape is pretty good so long as it is applied to a very clean and smooth surface. Did it come with a 'prep wipe'? If not I'd clean the area well with regular wash, then rub down with alcohol unless you have a friend who has some of this:

but you mentioned cracking and paint bubbles so I'd sand to get all loose paint off, then smooth with 600 grit ... then clean. And I'd consider a lil superglue on the crack ... smoothing any residue here as well ...

Sorry, what I meant to ask was if the double-sided tape was enough to keep it from flying off.

Should i remove the paint off the old scoop too?

if the paint is "strong" it is fine to tape to it

but if the paint is lifting .....

OK, I just finished placing it. I pushed down as hard as i could and held down for at least 7 minutes.

Take a look at the pics and let me know what you think.
