R56 Help finding correct part number for trunk trim piece
Help finding correct part number for trunk trim piece
We had a lot of motor oil (about two quarts) spill into the trunk, and have tried repeatedly to clean it from the trim pieces, but they appear to be some sort of porous material, and the oil has soaked in. Anything we let touch the trim ends up contaminated with oil. So I've removed the trim and cleaned up the metal, but I'm having trouble identifying the correct part number for one piece:
The car is a 2009 R56 S coupe, and the trim looks like the lower left piece in this diagram:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=51_6136
The VIN decoder says I don't have either option 653 ("hi def radio") or 674 ("Harmon Kardon"), so I would just order #2 from that diagram, but the part from the car has some definite differences from #1 or #2 in the realoem diagram--it has a tab to hold the gas filler release and the insert cover has horizontal tabs, so it looks like the lower left item (#5) in the diagram, but realoem doesn't show a part number for that one.
The current part also has a handy label with original manufacturer (Rieter)information, including what's labeled as a "BMW part number" and appears to be "2 752 373 - 13"
I _do_ have option 493, 'storage compartment package', if that ends up making any difference, and the interior is black.
Thanks in advance if you can help.

This is what I found from a brief investigation on realoem:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/part...36&q=2+752+373
Search for that part number and it matches the left trunk trim but the part has been superseded by a new one, 51477262285 (which corresponds to part number 5)
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...36#51477262285
For the R56 pre 2010 the option code for the hi fi stereo (harmon kardon in 2010+) is 6FD so you should look for that and it might explain why your trunk looks like the HK part and not the one you think. Another easy way to tell if you have hi-fi is the tweeters in the A pillars.

Anyway, I bought a Hi-Fi version trim, and it matches the original. I realized today I had never said thanks.
So: Thanks!
