R56 S, automatic Sport Mode RPM question.
S, automatic Sport Mode RPM question.
2008 MCCS. Was wifes DD last 6 years, now it's my hand me down. So I've been driving it mostly in Sport Mode, and don't really notice any steering change, but the throttle mapping is obviously better and the shifts higher in the power band. When it downshifts, it always has to rev match up about 1000RPM and engine brake. Is that normal? I would have thought it would have shifted gears AT the rev match point, (which it does in normal mode) not below it, then come up in RPMs. I'll double check, but I swear our new 2016 MCC rev matches perfectly in Sport mode. But that may have been an improvement based on a totally different engine and transmission.
And I actually can notice the heavier feel of the steering in Sport Mode, now that I'm looking for it. Also, in regular mode there IS a small mismatch, it's just less noticeable. Just wanted to make sure there is nothing amiss with my auto tranny. Thank you!
Not sure how many miles are on the trans but if it's been over 40k miles since the fluid was changed I'd recommend doing it. Royal Purple Max ATF or other suitable full synthetic. That will smooth it out some and help the trans last longer.
