Is it possible to install this on an 2012 R56S:

It has a note,
Note: Fuel Lid Door is not applicable for the R56 Cooper S Hatchback and R55 Cooper S Clubman models - they both use the chrome fuel cap in place of the fuel lid door.

But it looks like I can replace the entire assembly and have a flush cover? Wanting to body match the panel.

 

I follow someone on instagram and they said they have a base Cooper fuel lid on his r56s. So I'm pretty sure it's possible

 

You can convert completely to the non-S fuel filler but you'll need the whole assembly not just the outer cover. It's a little tricky to get the old parts off without damaging anything. Do a search before you start. You may be able to find the parts used from a non-S owner who converted to the S gas cap.

Will definitly keep my eye out for a cooper base assembly on here. I know people like switching to the S style. I much prefer the smooth flush lines.

 

I searched mini mania but am not able to find the part. I found the door cover part. But not the assembly. Anyone know the part number?

Mechanically you should be able to interchange the gas cap assembly between Cooper and Cooper S models.

Caution: the gas cap assembly is the same for Hardtop and Clubman. There is a different assembly for Convertible, Coupe, and Roadster. Hope this helps!
