Dash Cluster Question

When I received my MINI the trip odometer was blank and I wanted to test the miles of a short trip I went on so I toggled the trip odometer button. My question is how to I stop the trip odometer from racking up the miles I drive? Thanks.

If you drive your car, the miles are gonna go up. You can't stop that...

The only way to change that is to reset it again back to 0 but like some guy in AZ says, it's going to record the miles driven.

If you are just trying to use the trip odometer then you can reset that to 0. I am a little confused on what question you are asking. You don't want the miles to register at all on the trip odometer?

Although I may be young, I understand that the odometer on the car itself will go up. I do know how to reset the trip odometer. Like I mentioned in my original post it was not recording miles until I toggled it. I'm not sure if the ecu was reset prior to buying it or what but it just bugs me having two odometers displayed while driving and I was wondering if there is a way to turn it off.

I think there's some misunderstanding going on.

When we (at least I am) are referring to trip odometer, we're talking about the meter that you can reset using one of the buttons in the tach screen (with the "0.0" marking). The car odometer is the one that runs from day 0 of the car's inception and will always go up. In the picture below, the trip odo is on top and the car odo is on bottom.

Are you saying that there is the little trip odometer that hangs out just above the actual odometer reading and you want that to go away? The only thing I can think of is hitting the BC button at the end of the left hand signal stalk. That changes the display to instant MPG, average MPG, average speed, etc. Sorry for the misunderstanding!

Yes I am talking about the trip odometer, mentioned many times lol. Yeah I have seen on others that it is blank where mine shows up (bottom right corner) like on that picture above but only showing the cars odometer, if that made sense. Mine appears on the bottom right corner, not in the top left like your picture. I like to use this mode as I like to see my speed as shown in the picture above. When I change modes it messes the layout up. Oh well, just got to deal with it! Thanks for replying. If only you all could be here in person to fully understand where I'm coming from lol.
