I've been researching centre armrests and seeing I'm in Canada and the exchange rate is not that great, I've found a non OEM one on eBay that sells out of Canada at a very reasonable price. It looks to be a decent size although the my main reason for wanting one is to rest my arm while driving, mostly on the highway and on trips. My concern is how it fastens to the present centre console with simply 4 screws into the plastic console. I'm thinking I could re force it somehow if/when it loosens up. Any thoughts? Thanks!
I think I have the same one. Works OK, until someone leans on it. Good for an armrest, not good for when the wife decides to use it to assist ingress/egress. It just screws into the plastic of the existing "center console". Not the most robust unit. Cheap and easy. Still looking for a good deal on a factory unit.....
I have the one that has metal arms that bolt under the seat rails

Unfortunately, that one will cost me well over $500 with exchange rates, duties, shipping, etc. The one I was looking at was a cost to me just under $200. But I am concerned that it isn't very sturdy when used as an armrest and it might also be a little too big in the space, especially when shifting gears.

renchjeep, would you have any photos of it installed that I could see? Thanks!
My MINI is away from me at the moment. Hit a dog. Not good. I can maybe send some pics thru text once I get it back from the dealer. PM me your text number, I will get back to you. It's not the sturdiest thing ever, but is a good arm rest.

Are there any decent options available at a much more reasonable price. I'd love a decent armrest with sufficient storage but cannot for the life of me justify spending that kind of money for a simple armrest that should have come as a standard feature from the factory.

I went ahead and took a chance on the armrest from eBay that I originally asked about. It is perfect! Install seems very sturdy. My main concern was when I lean on it for arm support and it is solid as the mounting bracket actually tucks under the rear cupholder a bit so when you lean on the front portion of the armrest, it doesn't put any pressure on the side mounting screws. Very nice looking and looks like it belongs, matching the interior perfectly.
