Lower motor mount question

Recently purchased the power flex lower motor mount inserts (street version). Does anyone have them? I haven't installed them yet. I'm curious to know what it'll feel like in the car. Someone told me that they make a huge difference and make the car feel more responsive. I plan to do the install when I have time. Possibly myself if my job will let me use one of the lifts. So to sum it up, are they worth it?

Can you provide a link to the actual part? I installed a Powerflex black insert, and it proved to transfer too much vibration for my liking. Went to the yellow insert, and now very happy. Power transfer is more positive, and I can live with the bit of vibrations that are transferred. It's up to the individual to decide how much vibration is acceptable.

Yes, Powerflex bushings are worth it. Bushings on your car are one of the most stressed components as they undergo very high and straining conditions. Powerflex replaces these rubber compounds that deteriorate with age and replaces them with polyurethane bushings that last much longer. They'll improve your MINI's handling/performance and are ultimately more cost effective than OEM bushing replacements. Some peoples worry when upgrading to materials like this as you're prone to more noise and vibration, but with Powerflex's polyurethane compound they were able to create bushings that are 25-30% stiffer than new rubber items, but are made with exactly the same noise absorbing properties. Sure you may hear/feel more than stock, but what it provides your MINI is well worth it. If you need help with the install we have a DIY HERE under Tech Info (tab at top) > R56 articles > Engine > Lower Engine Mount Replacing.

Yes we try to install them on every R56 we can. Reducing the engine rock has been a great improvement in the performance of the car and even can reduce some torque steer.
I have a set in my personal car and would never take them out. So it is totally worth it and one of our #1 mods.

Hi friends
Apologies for popping up an old thread..
Is it possible to replace only the powerflex yellow insert (the large one) or is it necessary/required at the same time to also replace the purple lower engine mount small bushing?
BTW, what do you think about the (upper) engine mount insert? Recommended? Should it be replaced at the same time or it might cause excessive vibrations? (I'm talking about the color yellow)
Thx in advance

You can do just the big end insert and get 95% of the benefits. In my opinion, there isn’t enough bushing in the small end to justify the expense and effort of replacing.

The other two inserts also require a large effort for install. I would save those for when you need to go in for another major service, and then have them installed.

Thanks njaremka! What you say makes a lot of sense. I'm interested to know if in terms of the powerflex specifications (loads, etc.) it is acceptable to do so. interesting

More than acceptable to just do the big end of the lower mount. For the longest time, that was the only motor mount insert offered.

Funny anecdote... When I first bought my Clubman, that was the only modification I had on the car. Early on, I was having the dealer change the oil for me. I had the car in for an oil change, and the service advisor took the car back into the service bay for the oil change. He came back into the waiting room and ask what I had done to the car, it felt so responsive! I chuckled and told him about the lower mount insert, and he was shocked it made that much difference. It was the single most effective modification to improve throttle / engine response.

Completely agree with the thoughts on how much more responsive it is with the lower insert. When my first MINI was new I mistakenly thought the throttle lag was due to drive-by-wire. I decided to try the lower insert and I couldn't believe the difference. The most bang for the buck mod I've done.
