15" wheel question

Hello everyone,

I've done research on multiple forums, and now have decided to just ask. Will a 15x8 et20 wheel fit my r56 base Cooper without any problems? I am lowered on coils and don't really mind raising it back up a bit if I had to. I attached a photo of my mini as it sits now if that helps in anyway. Thanks!

I think a wheel smaller than 16' doesn't look as good as an R56 can, BUT the 15x8 ET20 will work for you.

Yes, only fit the Cooper ( Non S) cars, on the R56 S you will need 16" or greater and if you have BBK , then you might need spacers.

What coilovers are you running? Like they said above me, it will work, but the thing about it is you have to have a right sized tire. Meaning obviously not too thick but not too small. I mean if thats the look your going for. Also keep in mind it depends on how low you want to go. One more thing, I haven't really heard about it happening to the Non-S's but be careful how low you go. MINI's in particular turn evil in some sense and they start snapping drive axels. So just keep that in mind. Personally I havent had that problem (yet) but I also think its partially the power the S models put down and how the driver runs the car. Good luck!

I would also suggest going and signing up on the VWVortex forum due to them having a good classified posting area. Pretty easy to use and most of the people on there have good sets of wheels, thats where I got my Rotiforms.

Thanks for all the help guys! And will def look into VWVortex. As fast as coilovers I just have Megan racing I don't plan on going that low actually just enough to close up the wheel gap but still ride above the tire.

Are they the EZ Street coilovers or the Euro Streets? If need be, they def go low, but could go lower. I'm currently at the stage where it doesn't matter how low they go because I already rub anyways. Good Luck!

Same, I went with the Euro Streets just because of the full dampening all around followed by the adjustable camber plates. What 15'' wheels are you looking into?

I also forgot to mention, they might not clear the brake caliper. I just remembered that hahaha. You more than likely will need a wheel spacer, but honestly IMO I would just go up to a 16'' my dude, they might be a little more notice worthy too. Sometimes to me too small of a wheel is kinda like ehhh. But thats just me, I would ask around some more! Good luck!

ECS, do you know if they go lower than the euro streets? I'm decently low, but I just didn't know if there was a difference between what the two went to. That picture is where I'm at right now.

Hahah Thanks, I appreciate it. They were a B to find, but I found them thankfully. I ordered some wheel locks for them last week and put them on yesterday just incase. Don't really feel like taking the risk without them. But yeah I was thinking about black plasti dip but I feel like it'll take away from the design of the wheel. Maybe something different in the future. Possibly thinking of wrapping or plasti dipping the car balloon white and making the wheels white with Red,Blue, and Yellow splatters so they look like jaw breakers

Some figment would depend on your tires too. The width obviously but also the height. A 205/50/15 with a lower profile will clear the arches better - lower the car overall - will accelerate better due to the smaller circumference. This over the stock 175/65/15 or 185/60/15 or 195/55/15 or 205/55/15 which all have basically equivalent diameters and circumference.

Yes, the color will transform your wheels and the look for your car but you can hate or love the change.
Probably my taste for black wheels is affecting my comments heheh

However, your wheels (black or original) still looks amazing

Yeah I know hahah If I even consider going even lower I have to purchase some 16'' wheels. Who knows what kind I'll look into. I could go the cheaper route and go with some Whistler wheels as back-ups or get a custom size made from Rotiform if I choose. Reason being is I talked with a guy last night who took off his lock collar and his lower adjustment collar on his coilovers only leaving the top collar that the spring sits on. It completely dumps the car out. Only problem is MINI's are notorious for turning "evil" when dumped out too far and like to snap drive axels. Come spring though I'm pulling the side stripes off.
