Emulator to solve airbag mat problem? It works!

I have the dreaded passenger airbag warning light on my 2010 justa. The dealer is 2hrs away and my searches on this forum lead me to suspect that even if I take it in for service they probably won't have the parts in stock so I'll have to make at least 2 trips to get the issue resolved. I found this http://www.ebay.com/itm/161161656100?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT on eBay but I'm skeptical. Apparently it tricks the computer into believing the pax seat is always occupied. Only adults ride in my car and I've never even owned an infant car seat. Anybody tried this? Comments?

I got no responses so I tried it myself. My airbag symbol on the tac is gone. All I get now is the airbag symbol on the speedo on startup and it only lasts 2-3 secs. The kit also includes a separate module to silence the seat belt alarm on the pax side.

Mine worked for about 2yrs and then died. I'm torn between buying another emulator or taking MINI up on their offer to replace the seat mat for free ( I'm about 75 mi from the nearest dealer).

So the emulator just stopped working? I feel like if I can get two years out of it I would be pretty excited. How did you get the dealership to offer to replace the seat? I too am pretty far from the closest mini dealer.

There was an NHTSB safety recall: https://www.caranddriver.com/news/bmw-recalls-91800-mini-coopers-for-airbag-sensors
You can check the recall status for your car: https://www.miniusa.com/content/miniusa/en/owners/tools-support/recall.html

Edit: the recall was only for 2005-2006 (R50, R53, R52). Doesn't apply to R56.

I received a letter from MINI which amounts to an extension on the warranty for the seat mat. I'm not sure what years are included.

I have a 2012 Mini Cooper S and got myself into trouble. I reached for the occupancy sensor connection from behind the seat and when trying to disconnect it broke the plastic connector on the vehicle side. Now I guess I have so solder the 3 wires together to the emulator. The wires on the vehicle side are Purple, Yellow/Black and Grey. Which colors from above connect to the brown, red, white respectively on the emulator?
