Service records LOL

So I'm looking at my MINI's service history from the former owner.

Some of the highlights before I bought it:

$4080 for a clutch job

$980 to replace all the clutch hydro parts this was about two months later

$1000 to replace all four rotors and the pads (customer supplied parts) I'm not joking when I say the labor hours is 11.25 total.

Here I am bitching about a $19.00 oil pan gasket, an hour or so of my time and $30 worth of oil.

Not to mention, you can cut all those in half or more with a good Mini independent..

Wow! That is crazy expensive. Were these prices charged to the customer via a dealer or an Indy shop? I can't see a dealership allowing the customer to supply the parts. Thank goodness for DIY!

Who was the previous dealer? Nice to call them out so others can be aware of the rip off nature of the business. They often see customers who don't know any better about car repairs and then rip them to help the bottom line.

I've never been the Yelper/Facebook reviewer type. It was not my contact and not something I paid for. I mean for all I know the prior owner may have thought they were getting good value for the money.

I will say this it was not a dealer that charged those prices, but a euro indy shop.

nicefeet, its good to see your thinking positively, sad to see you leave the fold with a bad taste in your mouth. Those charges are totally nuts! was the car female owned before? they usually get taken advantage of.

I think the car came from a moneyed family where they just didn't care about the cost. I bought the car of the first owner over the phone.

I did zillow the address on the title and all I can say is ho lee ***
