Sport suspension? NOOB question. Did search...

What is the difference between sport and non-sport suspension, specifically on a 2011 R56S? I did a search, and got a lot of unrelated stuff. S0.....what is the difference, how do I tell if I have "sport suspension", and which is preferred, "sport" or "non-sport"? Maybe.....why?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Sport suspension was an option, and should not be confused with the sport package (another option that did not include sport suspension). It provides a stiffer ride and better cornering than the stock suspension.

The difference is different springs, shocks, and sway bars. You can tell by looking for sport labels on the struts or putting your vin into a database of factory options. Sport suspension is typically too harsh with runflat tires.

There is also a dealer/port installed JCW suspension option that is even stiffer.

The specific spring rate is different depending on installed options such as sunroof and transmission type for stock, sport, and JCW suspensions.

Sport suspension option also helps with steering response and body roll. Some good info in this NAM thread here and here. I prefer a much sporter feel for my vehicles as a personal preference, but if I were planning to modify something on a new purchase I might have opted out of the option as I would be just changing all of that stuff out anyways. Theoretically speaking of course.
