Bonnet stripes, sunroof decal, AND side stripes. Too much?

I'm ready to do some "coolification" to my little guy in a few weeks, and I really like the way sunroof decals look, so I'm thinking of adding a black Union Jack. I also think the sides look too plain, so I'd like to add some side stripes. What I'm worried about: I already have bonnet stripes, so will adding the sunroof decal and the side decals look too gaudy? I usually see either roof or side decals...not both.

Any thoughts or pics are appreciated!

Yes too gaudy, but then again a lot of mini owners seem to like that look (a bunch of stripes, flags, and checker patterns all over the car). I live in San Francisco so I see loads of MINIs all day, and the stickered ones are an eye sore every single time.

Personally I think it looks goofy and like the person has no sense of aesthetics. Everyone has an opinion though so whatever.

If you haven't already, you can go to miniusa.com and click 'build'. Add the features you are thinking about and see for yourself. We've got a CM ordered with bonnet - boot and side stripes and it looks great. Nothing on top as it is taken up with a moon roof. Also, you could check out a few of some of the poster's garages and see what has been done. Doing to your MINI what makes it yours is still called 'you-afication'.

It depends on the colors, most of the graphics kits factory look good. If you match the checkered to checkered and UJ to UJ. You should be fine. Choose a color palette and go with it. Creating it on the MINIUSA site helps also.

And if you need Genuine MINI decals we have them here.

Good luck.

I've been toying with this idea as well and for the same reasons, I've held off on it so far. I actually have the decals to do it in my glovebox already, but i'm just not sure, even after photoshopping the results. My plan was to imitate the "Sportspack" decals that late model Mini's could be optioned with, as seen in various classic Mini pics on google and featured on the Lego Mini Cooper kit. One thing that prevented me from just putting the decals on and trying it out is that the John Cooper scripts I got look to be a much bolder font than what i've seen, and it makes it look too wannabe racer instead of classic. Plus, I was unable to source the correct side pinstripes for a reasonable price (some sites offer them as a full kit for a whopping $60, when mine cost under $15). I could only find generic 2mm double stripes with a 3mm spacing, but the originals were 3mm stripes with a 2mm spacing.

Black Union Jack could look good on a black car. The red, white and blue Union Jack looks great on a red car, and I'm not a big fan of roof decals. The checkerboard stuff wore out in about 2005.
