Help getting door open????

I have a 2008 Mini and the dirvers side door won't open neither from the inside or outside. I have read about the cable problem and how to fix it but no one has talk about how to get the door open when neither handle is working??? the lock seems to be working fine it goes up and down. I need to get the door open to get the panel off, it is wegde up against the dash and will not come out. Does anyone know the trick to getting the latch to release????? Thank you for your help.

Not sure if this is the exact diagram for your car http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...64&hg=51&fg=10 but it looks like part#5 is what you want to move to unlock, unless somehow that came undone from the #1.

I'm no lock expert, but the diagram should help you figure it out.

When you pull on the interior handle does it feel like it has a small amount of resistance, and return to where it should be when released?

If it does, I would be less likely to think the cable is the issue and think your door latch is frozen (assuming you're in a cold climate currently). MINI refined the door actuators in the G2's and the amount of cables popping out of location is nil compared to the G1 cars.

I have also seen salt & road grime buildup in the exterior handles cause issues.
