Holes in Brake Duct

So I was admiring my MINI the other day when I noticed that there seem to be holes in my brake ducts. The holes aren't very uniform so I'm guessing the previous owner must have done something.

Any one know why someone might make these holes?

Definitely a custom job by the PO. If it bothers you those pieces are inexpensive. You might even be able to change them from the wheel well thereby avoiding having to remove the entire bumper assembly (even that is not difficult).

It doesn't bother me too much. Just curious why the holes might have been made.

Radar detector sensor? I did something similar many moons ago with a detector back in the caveman era of hiding them.

Go to www.realoem.com and you should be able to find it pretty easily.

Thanks.

In case anyone else is lookin for these the part numbers are:

AIR BRAKE CHANNEL LEFT #51747255129
AIR BRAKE CHANNEL RIGHT #51747255130

ECS Tuning currently has them for $20.77 a piece. Now I just have to figure out how hard it would be to change them to decide if its worth the time and effort.

It's in the same spot on both ducts. So it looks like something intentional. Though I know what you mean about dodging the crap trucks throw at you.

My guess is that the previous owner had some sort of front splitter installed. M7? Instead of drilling holes in the bumper, he chose to drill his brake ducts instead?

I could see that possibly being it.
