R56 Need help turbo died
My 2007 MCS turbo is having the same issue and my mechanic has narrowed it down to the turbo as well. He's checked the oil line, boost solenoid and exhaust manifold.
Thinking about upgrading to the JCW turbo (after market version)...has anyone done this? Would it be difficult and what all would I need to swap out? Thinking about having a friend who is a very good DIYer do it for me.

Tons of people have done this, or any other turbo swap. I would say if you can't find a good DIY, make one for the rest of us. Also, an indispensable tool is the Bently Manual, and can be purchased for under $100 on amazon, or you could check your local library. Lastly, do the install right. This includes getting new gaskets (Mini's are best) and getting the DT oil line kit. When mine fails, this is what I will be getting in addition to my Frankenturbo or K04 hybrid.
If your planning on replacing the turbo with a non-oem replacement (for performance) then I would first choose a tuner that you are comfortable dealing with then choose a turbo based on their recommendation.
Exactly. Want to know why we've had a hybrid F21M product for two years now but not released it publicly? A lack of tuning support. So you'll find that end of the process to be challenging.

Well...I might have mixed feelings about the news my husband shared with me yesterday. (he's been driving the mini the last few days) He said the alert light didn't come one, even when he put it in sport mode and going up to highway speeds. I guess it might have just been and ECU fault.
I was starting to get excited about making the car more of the toy car it will become when all our vehicle shuffling is done. Good note is that it saves the funds for other mods. We will see when we go back to our service guy and have him scan the ecu.
