R56 Intake Manifold Spacer
The intake from the opening to the valves is approximately 4-5 inches in length. The intake itself is about 2-3 inches from the mounting flange to the first spot it starts to turn. It's pretty straight from the factory. Being I've worked at 2 different engine shops and do work for people at home, I was quite impressed with how straight it is and how well it's match ported from intake to head. That little bit of thickness, what is it ? 1/2" to 1" thick spacer ? Isn't gonna do squat on a pressurized intake system. Has anyone outside of craven dyno'd a car with spacer only ?? Can't answer that.
Claims adds 10+ hp..its just a spacer..cooling purposes only in my opinion. I had a spacer on my Audi TT with water meth..so living in florida its a plus to cool anything down but not for that price..75-80 bucks maybe not 2bills plus..just sayin.
The theories I am seeing here are all solid, and you guys seem to know a lot more about it than I do, which is cool. Beyond the basics, I cannot even begin to argue with you about why it works, and the guy who designed it left to go work down in the bay area so I can't put you in touch with him either.
I think it would be awesome if anyone wanted to post their own numbers from the dyno. I would most certainly be down with that, I don't think we have anything to hide. These are just our honest figures, we tested the idea on a third-party dyno and it worked so we machined a bunch more. If it hadn't worked, there would have been no reason to make more.
It seems like there is skepticism about it, and that makes sense. I get why you would not trust us, as the manufacturer, to have the most accurate figures. Maybe that makes sense for a bigger company to fudge numbers? Maybe a bigger company could still sell a product with BS figures because they have so much exposure? I am not saying they have just that for a small company like ours, NAM is pretty much the only way people will hear about this product. That means, if the numbers are wrong everyone who reads about the product will know that before they consider buying it. It just wouldn't make sense for us.
In fact, if it is determined that the dyno was wrong and this Koala doesn't actually add HP then we'll take it down. We are never trying to sell you BS, the only reason we have this product is because it works.

One guy did and it gave 1-2hp. The dyno numbers sell product, but I'm more interested in the butt dyno

It's definitely doing something if it added power. I wonder how much more torque it added?
Thanks Kellen,
Your response just validated my past purchases and why I will continue to do business with CravenSpeed. Honesty and a little class can go a long way towards earning and keeping a customers trust.

Kellen,
Mine will be here Monday and I plan on doing a before and after on my dyno on Tuesday or Wednesday.
I will post dyno sheets.
Sweet. I am ready to hear what you found!

32k on motor and no I do not have compression numbers at the moment (can definitely check them though.......
I will be doing the install article tomorrow and most likely redynoing wednesday depending on how busy I am in the shop.

I was wondering how this would affect a forced induction system.
Used to run a 1" intake spacer (phenolic, usually) on my fox body mustang, which already had notoriously long intake runners, which is what gave them such great low end grunt.
If it works on this system, cool.

this thread is over a year old... still waiting for someone to test this on a dyno....
