Boot Latch Stuck...Needs Replacing. HELP!!!

Hello Everyone,

I have a 2007 Cooper S and 2 weeks ago my boot stopped opening. It wound't even open when I used the emergency cord under the back seat. My husband finally went in the back and got the boot open by unscrewing the latch from the car. However, he couldn't get the latch undone from the boot lid (the hook part wouldn't unhook from the loop on the lid).

I know I will need to order a new boot latch, but does anyone know how to get the current latch off? Any help would be appreciated.

Mei

Here you go with the parts: and the DIY for the rear grip. #5 and some of #1 trick.

Here is the DIY and parts for the bottom latch. Just the #1 and the way to get to it.

There you go, and thanks

Thanks for the reply. DH go the lid open by going through #3 below:

Upon removing the latch (#1 on your image) from the car, it was still attached to the loop on the truck lid. How do I force #1 open to release from the lid (loop) part?

On the trigger for the lock pull might be jammed. See the little nylon color pin ( looks to slide on a curved slot) that's on the left hand side of the pic that connect to the emergency cable. Jiggle it or push it to the one side with a screw driver and it should pop the latch, I would tap it with a hammer also.

Thanks
