Manual trunk release??

I have recently bought my 07 MCS and my trunk releases with the remote, but when I try to open it manually by pressing the button under the handle, it won't let me in. Can you give me some direction as to how to open the trunk without the key fob?
Also, I tried to program all doors to open with the key fob, both doors now unlock at the same time, but not the trunk
Any advise from the experts???

Thanks

Richard

Are the doors 100% unlocked(2 clicks of your unlock button)? One click unlocks the drivers door only. Second click unlocks passenger door and rear lid.

Yep, just like above. If it still does not work the rear latch micro-switch might be bad in the handle. If you ever get the rear hatch stuck and need the manual override , there is ones on certain years in Gen 2 Hatch.

If the rear microswitch fails or the bottom lock does not work:

Just like the 1st Gen : Gen 2 MINI 2007+ **There are some people reporting that some cars around 2008' - 2009+ did not have it. Check there first. **

Manually pull it and should unlock.

---------------------------------------

This is the grip handle part, if you find the micro-switch to be bad or the internal to be corroded you will need this. I also linked the how to it you need to swap the covers.

There is a primed version: Part # 51132754240 ( people transfer there painted cover to the new front part of the handle. )

&

The chrome version.

Trunk Lid Grip - Chrome Part # 51132753603

There is also a carbon fiber version.

Had the same issue onl my 2011 MCS about a month ago. Took it to the dealer and it was a bad switch in the button by the license plate light. The only way to open the hatch without that switch is with the remote .
