High Mileage Engine Oil

Hello, My 2008 Mini Cooper Base Justa with the N12 Engine has just over 140,000 miles. I would love to get another 140,000 miles out of her. It does burn a little bit of engine oil. I currently use synthetic 5W-30 engine oil. Are there any recommendations for a high mileage Justa?
Thank you
Ed

Keep using 5w-30 full synthetic oil, Mini/BMW oil is Castrol. Some oil manufacturers make oil for high mileage cars but are not full synthetic. It's great to hear that you have this many miles on yours.

At that mileage, I would get your timing chain slack checked. You are probably overdue for timing chain system replacement. If you are miraculously below 70 mm, have them install the "long" tensioner.

I have a 2007 Base model with 141, 300 miles. I have changed the oil using the recommended weight and grade every 3,000 miles. I believe that is the secret to 141 K trouble free miles.

You have 140K on your car. Whatever you are doing works. Don't change anything.

Are you using BMW LL-01, or regular old petroleum oil?

I just bought the car from a friend. It had the 100,000 mile maintenance package when they bought it new in 2008. So, for the first 100,000 all maintenance was done by Mini of Pensacola, FL. I just bought the car about a month ago and want to do the best thing for the engine and maintenance.

It's off the shelf Texaco oil and a new filter every time. It does not now, and never has used a drop between changes. The only time the car let me down was when the battery died and went to Mini heaven.

Well at least if you're changing your oil every 3k you're not wasting it on Synthetic. Sounds like it's working fine for you.
