Driving light bracket.

Didn't find much but is there a difference in location between oem driving light brackets and say VIP customs?

By that I mean I'm getting hella 500's as you know they're pretty big, so I'm trying to mount them proportionally in the front grill. I wanted to know if the oem's brackets mount higher then an aftermarket or such.

I have the 500's and the VIP brackets and they look fine. Don't have a pic on hand though.

I have the same and am very pleased. The oem R56 brackets are really designed for the OEM lights, different from the flat mount of the VIP ones.

I haven't installed them but I too have the VIP brackets. Google them; they'll have a few pics up.

I've been meaning to post this.

I purchased the Hella 500ff driving lights and did not want to pay the $90+ for brackets so I made my own. 2 steel L Brackets, 2 nuts, bolts and washers for each bracket (4 total). and painted them flat black.

DIY home made brackets for under $5. They hold on tight with almost no vibration. I can take better pics when I get home.

I figured I really just didn't want to cut holes for the brackets again it wasn't fun the first time.

Those l brackets you made are they mounted to the grill? They kind of look it.

Sorry for the bad Picture. I didn't have time to remove my grill this morning but you can get the general idea from the attached picture.

The L Bracket that I bought from Home Depot was this one:
http://www.homedepot.com/p/Simpson-S...-A44/100375040

It fits through the slots of the grill perfectly. No cutting required. However, I did cut and round off the bracket itself. By itself, it's longer that I wanted it to be.You don't have to do this, but I had the time and tools to do so. I hope this helps.

If you guys want more pictures, I can take the grill off tonight.

How stable is it?, Id be going around 90-100 on a daily commute, I feel like the grill would snap

To me it's pretty stable. There is minimal vibration.I also drive freeways pretty frequently. I wanted to make a note that I also added blue loctite to the bolts to prevent it from loosening over time. The bolts attached to the grill are tight but are not over tightened. My intention was to make a cheap bracket for the lights. If they didn't work, I would be out $5 and I would by the VIP brackets. However, I don't think I will change these out. They do their job.

Just tried your bracket. I'm getting quite a bit of vibration granted my grill is cracked everywhere. It seems pretty strong though other then that it's all good.
