R56 DDM vs Quicksilver vs NM Eng. Thoughts?
UPDATE
I decided on the NM-Engineering Exhaust as stated earlier. Install was pretty easy. The V-Band clamp on my exhaust was pretty rusted and not reusable, so I also had to get a new V-Band clamp as well. That was a disappointment considering I waited 6 weeks for the exhaust to show up.
But good news for the people holding off due to the known whistle noise! There is no whistle! I've had the exhaust installed for a week now and have put plenty of miles on the car since, about 300. I can't say I felt any noticeable power gains, but the throttle response seems to have picked up. And after de-carbing the intake valves and replacing spark plugs I don't think the throttle response could be any better. I considered a SprinkBooster before this. Now, I'm unable to see a reason. The car responds so well now I couldn't imagine it being better than it is now.
The look is great fills out the rear bumper very well. The sound is intoxicating. My average MPG was around 32.5 to 33MPG. After the last week of driving it dipped down to 29MPG! And thats AFTER doing the plugs and de-carb as well! I can't help but put the thing down. Highway speeds up to 70MPH there really isn't any noticeable drone. Once you start driving 70MPH+ you can start to hear it. That is all with sport mode on. I have yet to drive it without the sport button activated, so I'll have to do a follow-up report once I settle down and cruise with the Sport Mode off on the Highway.
Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase and strongly recommend NM-Eng for your modding needs.
On a side note I also installed the NM-Eng short shift kit at the same time. At first I didn't notice the difference, but I was too interested in the exhaust. The feel is great, but I definitely will need to get used to the difference I have missed the gear a couple times since the throw has lessened. But again I recommend this easy upgrade, especially if you're already changing the exhaust.
