how many miles do you have?

How many miles do you have on your R56 MCS N14 engine? and have they been good miles(no major mechanical issues) or bad miles(lots of mechanical problems). I always read on these forums about how unreliable these engines are so i want to see if anyone out there has gone a lot of miles with no problems. lets see it!

I'm at 132,000 miles. No major problems imo. Most serious was getting the timing chain cartridge replaced at 108,000 miles. Few other components - throttle body, heat exchanger, water pump, thermostat. Overwhelming majority have been in the past year after I passed through the 100k mile mark.

I'm about 108K right now. Just had the timing chain done (2nd time - first was around 30K under warranty.) I had a temp sensor go, which kept it from starting once. About a $15 repair.

She's running like a top now. Not perfect miles, but better than some cars, and they've been very fun miles!

I'm the second owner on my car, buying it at 49k miles. The first owner treated the car like an appliance (only maintenance when the car told her to, didn't wash or care for the car). Just before I got it, I learned (after I bought it) that they had the timing chain assembly and turbo replaced.

Since I have had it (about 25k miles), I've had no issues except oil leaks. I really think that my issues are related to the lack of care when the car was new. I really like this car, and am happy to take care of it.

I'm at 106,000 miles. No major problems imo. timing chain cartridge replaced at 61,000 miles. Few other components - water pump at 104000, thermostat 105000. Overwhelming majority have been in the past year after I passed through the 100k mile mark. Valve cleaning at 51,000 then at 105000.Just had the trans service, shifts a lot smoother now.

49,100 miles. The only thing I've had to have done outside of the normal scheduled maintenance, is have the car re-programmed because the "service required" indicator for my front brakes was inaccurate and throwing it off.

64K on my 07 mcs, just had timing chain replaced, as well valve gasket seal and turbo oil lines. Only put 1k on the car myself, bought used, 3rd owner. Still trying to get service history of middle owner.

I have an 07' and I just hit 68,000 today, I bought the car in 2010 with 28,000 and it had two owners prior. I have had to replace a few things luckily the expensive stuff was under warranty. Runs pretty damn good still and haven't had any major problems since I was at 56,000 miles. However when letting of the clutch slowly it sometimes makes a really really loud hum until I push it back in or let off, seems to do it more with the AC on. I suspect it needs a new clutch?

Stuff replaced-

Timing chain
Thermostat
Turbo oil line
High Pressure Fuel Pump
Fuel filter

I feel there was a few more but I can't remember the other things.
I am for sure keeping it for a few more miles as I love driving this car. I am hoping they don't ruin the upcoming F56 as I would buy one for my next car.

08 R56S, bought brand new, at 120k now. Been through:

2 Wrecks (neither were my fault, one resulted in a whole new front end)
1 Turbo
3 Sets of Brakes
2 Clutches
2 Timing Chains
1 Thermostat Housing
3 Walnut Blasts from Carbon Buildup
2 Sets of Spark Plugs
1 Replaced CoilPack

The car was only stock for the first 15k miles or so, been heavily modded for the last 60k at least. Now running 18psi on an RMW tune and everything's fine for the most part. Occasional limp mode issues but nothing related to hardware or internals.

This may seem like excessive amounts of effort and money to keep the car on the road, but for me it's not even a question. I love the car way too much to get rid of it; it's my daily driver and I'm just saving up for a full rebuild or a jcw crate motor, stronger internals, etc. to put it back to mile zero and start all over.

'07 S 82k.

The usual timing chain issues.
Currently have the leaking turbo oil feed line that I need to address soon.
Did the clutch/flywheel about 5k ago and walnut blasted it.

I currently have 66.5k miles and have replaced the chain tensioner twice (once under warranty) and the thermostat once. Replaced the spark plugs @ 35k miles, I want to do the carbon blast, spark plug replacement, and new valve cover soon. Overall running great but stumbles a bit at low R's and valve cover leaking. I hope to get another 100k out of her too!

78,500 currently I bought it with 55,000 last January.

I believe second owner.
I've replaced the oil line to the turbo, vacuum pump, water pump, aux. water pump, and valve cover. Nothing too serious and all were relatively quick fixes. Definitely loving the car and starting mods now.

2008 MCS 92,800 miles! I bought it with 26K on the odometer and in 22 months i have added 66,800 miles. Spent a lot although not sure if some of the work was really needed. Any issues considered to be a common problem on the 2nd gen cooper s I have spent money on it. I can say the car has never left me stranded.

07 MCS with 77k miles.

Second owner (got it from a Mini dealer), it's had a myriad of work done, the dealer spent around 5 minutes listing the repairs and work.

The most memorable being 2x carbon cleaning, timing chain cassette, water pump, FRM. Looking under the hood, it also appears to have had the turbo oil line replaced.

Since I bought it at 76k, its had the FRM replaced (again)

85,550 on my 2008 S. Lots of warranty work and quite a few mods, even from 78K. I believe I am the 3rd owner.

Hot Chili S 2007 and only 36,800 miles (59,300 kms).
Problems? no one.

Issues... yes, clutch and turbo (the old owner (Im the second one), didnt keep it well.

damn... now reading that it only has 36,800 miles compare to all above with more than 60k miles, can say that can keep it more time with me

cheers from Mexico!
