Buying advice for MC S hardtop

Hello All-

First post here on this site....I will be buying a used low mileage hardtop S soon. I have several candidates (5), but I am seeking some opinions....

Given mileage within 5k of eachother, say: 18k-23k....would one go with the 2011 or 2012?

Interior materials are similar, some have the upgraded h/k stereo...wheels are 17" except one....one 2012 has the cold weather pkg (heated front seats)...one has the moon roofs.....none of them has all options. None of these would be a deal breaker for me....

Thanks in advance for any opinion....opine away!

Treat the purchase like a used car first, then as a MINI. Compare the cars based on condition, options, colors. Some questions:

Are you looking at a manual or auto?

Will you be looking to add significant mods, or keep it stock?

Where do you live, will this be a year-round car for you? (Up here in Buffalo, NY, the heated seats are really nice).

Have fun,
Mike

Thanks for the reply.....Definitely a manual!

Will be keeping it stock for the most part, at least while the standard warranty is in effect.

I live in So. Cal but leather/ette seats can get chilly in the winter since my garage is actually sports/toy storage...but that's another story..lol

We kinda just went thru that to get my daughter mini. It came down to the cleanest carfax and being in NY , we really wanted heated seats. She wanted a sun roof and we have it but its really hot and I already bought zippy shades. The upgraded stereo is really nice too

Any of them Mini Certified? If not, you might want to keep looking. Also, are you acquainted with the ride quality of the S with run flats?

Have test driven one if that's what you mean. I'm down with a stiff suspension. I'm looking to up my fun factor.

From what I've come across, the cpo or mini next usually have over 30k miles or are 2010 vintage. It's tough enough finding nice, low mileage, manual tranny mini s's here in so cal.

Did you see the spice orange one on the marketplace? If you're into carbon wrap and black wheels, looks pretty good. Good luck on your search.

Send him a PM on here as well, it wouldn't hurt. At least you would be buying from someone who cares about their MINI, rather than just treats it like an appliance.
