Motegi MR125 17 inch Wheels

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had these wheels on their Mini Cooper? They are the Motegi Racing MR125's and are 16.4 pounds at $173 a piece on tirerack. I know you can view them on a Mini Cooper on their website but I would like to actually see a better picture of them on someone's car (if possible).

Also, does anyone know how much my stock wheels weigh? I think they are around 16 pounds as well? They are the R115 8-Spoke Star wheel I believe.

Thanks!
Tom

I have these wheels with Hankook 215 tires and StopTech big brake kit. 2mm spacer is required.

I just put these wheels on my JCW coupe. They fit over the stock JCW brakes with no spacers and plenty of room, but a couple of notes:
  • You need to use tuner lugs; your stock lug bolts won't fit (never mind what the Tire Rack web site says, I spoke to someone in customer service who looked at physical wheels and confirmed this when my lugs wouldn't fit). And the tuner lugs Tire Rack supplies are silver. I'm going to be ordering black lug bolts this weekend.
  • The spokes project not just beyond the face of the wheel, but beyond the bulge of the sidewall (with 205/45R17 tires) and the maximum projection is pretty far off center. If you parallel park a lot (especially if you park by braille), you may have problems with curb rash.
  • They were surprisingly wider, with tires, than the R112 Challenge spoke wheels I had on the car, like over an inch on each side. The rear wheels are flush now, which was not my plan.

Ken, thanks for your input! Maybe I won't get these, I don't parallel park often but I would hate to scratch them up if I accidentally hit a curb. Do you have any pictures of them on your car?

I'll shoot some in the morning; it's been raining off and on all afternoon and looks rather threatening at the moment.

As for parallel parking, if you have trouble with it and really need to occasionally, then these are probably not the wheels for you. But it's not hard to do, really, and there's never a need to curb your wheels in the process

Wheels

Ignore any mud; we have a long stone drive and there's a spot that's always muddy for a day or so after it rains so the only time I have a clean car is between washing it and leaving the driveway.

Plenty of room if you're not lowering the car, and you can see there's plenty of space around the brakes.

Obviously pretty near flush now; the previous wheels/tires were a solid inch further in on both sides.

Spoke projection beyond sidewall bulge.

Larger pics available in my gallery.

Thanks! I'm happy with the looks, other than the silver lugs (which I'll fix when the ones I just ordered come in). The tires are Bridgestone S-04 Pole Positions in 205/45R17, by the way. I've only put a few dozen miles on them so far, but I'm satisfied with dry performance. Hopefully I'll be equally satisfied with wet performance...

Considering how flush these are, I think I'm glad I didn't go with 215s instead.

Oh, yes, the car is spice orange, not red. The sensor in my DSLR doesn't do well with oranges...

Those stock wheels are nothing close to 16 lbs. Maybe somewhere in the 20lbs range.
