R56 Broken Front Window
Broken Front Window
I had not driven my Mini for 3 days, yesterday went inside and notice a hairline crack approx 3 inches starting from a little divot on the black part on the drivers side. Can this be fixed or is past the point of no return.
BTW... How much is a new front window going for these days.
Post a picture tomorrow.

Most places like Safelite can repair it as long as it's not longer than a dollar bill or in line of sight when driving. The new windshield runs around 330 dollars. I know this because I've had 3 put in.

won't help now but for next time:
front glass is usually covered under comprehensive
you might be very surprised to find that the high deductible you have on comp' is costing you a lot more than it is worth. ask your insurance what your rate change would be to have 0 deductible on your comp'. You might be very surprised. After a similar windshield incident I went to 0 deductible on comp, for 3 cars for just a few dollars a year.
every policy is different but it costs nothing to ask
or - move to FL where the state won't allow ins' to charge a deductible on front glass declaring it a 'safety item' - so long as you carry coverage on the glass, it must be repaired/replaced at no cost.
my insurance also sends all glass claims directly to SafeLite - I've used them many times over the years with satisfaction. They come to your home or work. Easy.
