We got the Xenons. And something else (heated sprayers?) that made the adaptive only cost 100 bucks more so we were talked into them. Love them. Very bright, very sharp. I dont mind the contrast and fast cut to dark but now that I have read about it I will pay more attnetion to it and see how that feels. Car is only two weeks old The way they track with the steering wheel and point the way into a turn is mighty impressive. I think they will spoil me. I suppose it has auto leveling too. I wasnt aware till reading this. They seem to float at times for lack of another descriptive word and when the car tilts up hill they seem to lower to stick to the road. Same tilting downward. My only concern is all that movemnt and the electronics adn mechanicals that make it happen. I hope they stay reliable.

I do wish we had the black light bucket though. That went away with the adaptive Xenon's. Not available together. Might have to black them out myself one day. I think it looks good against the white paint with all the other black on the car.

Xenons are the way to go,
Just wish that on my R53, the fogs wouldn't turn off when you hit the high beams.

Like my adaptive xenons a lot. The only thing I don't like is that you are not supposed to flash them if you get behind someone poking along in the fast lane. I don't use mine as DRL's however.

If you're using your high beams you shouldn't need your fog lights. They're intended for completely different lighting and weather conditions. Fog lights by design are intended to shine lower on the road specifically for foggy and wet conditions. In those situations high beams reflect back at you and actually give you worse visibility. The lower light pattern of the fog lights reduces the reflection back at you...

Granted they are not the best factory-equipped Xenons, I think its a must-have option when ordering.

Understood,
They just add more visibility to the vehicle for safety purposes and they do augment peripheral illumination.

Had them on my 08 GTI and on my 2011 MCS and again on my 09 GTI. I wouldn't own another car without them.
