R56 bonnet strips
bonnet strips
Hi everyone,
So all my question that I have asked are to get ready to purchase a 2010 MCS automatic. The car finally made it to the dealer and I saw pictures online.
The car has bonnet strips, cute but kinda on the fence about them. I was told they can be taken off but can they guarantee no paint fade?
I rather live with bonnet strips than funny lines on my hood.
Thanks again for any advise.

Changes in paint color, fading, because of solar bleaching won't buff out. The color change is in the paint, not the clear coat covering the paint. There's a good chance that a 2 year old motor may not have bleached paint yet, especially if it has been garaged. If you want the stripes off, use a hair dryer to gently heat them and they peel right off but are totally destroyed. If there is a stripe ghost on the bonnet the only 2 options are to repaint or replace the stripes. I'd leave them and see do you warm up to having them. I'm on a third set of stripes and added boot stripes last goround and the job is easy to do if you include a large can of patience and no distractions and follow the instructions carefully. My seven year old motor does have ghost stripes on the bonnet. They're pretty noticable when exposed.
Assuming the dealer installed these stripes properly, and also that the car was taken care of, I would feel it shouldn't be a problem. Just take it to a detailer so any haziness or difference can be buffed and polished . I wouldn't be too worried. What color is the car? Where are you located? Miles? Pretty significant too.

Thanks for the info.
