2013 recaro seat option

So I took a closer look at the recaro seat option (shot from the GP model) and they do not look impressive. Recaro seats are usually a recaro everything (seat frame,. foam, upholster, etc), but these look like some crap recaro cobbled together on the mini sport seat framework. I can't see why these are going to be significantly better than the sport seats. A bit more bolstering on the rib area and a headrest that can't be flipped around.

Anyone actually sat in them yet?

They've been around since 2012. I have them in my JCW and love them.

I sat in them at the dealer, I didn't like them. They caught me under the thigh, we went for the standard sport seats.

was it a red mini jcw by chance? if so i almost bought that car. i on the other hand wish the seats came out a littler more. my right leg cramps because there isnt enough support underneath it. i feel the seats are too "short"

I'd like to buy a second hand pair to replace the sport leatherette seats. I'm not in love with the look, but I'd take it.

I made the mistake of buying Recaro seats... Extremely painful! Bolsters and top seams dig into thighs.

Late responding to this, but they are exactly as the OP suspected. The "Recaro seats" are merely a set of replacement cushions and covers for the standard seats. MINI is making a mint on the surcharge.
