MINI in for service crap rental car
Like the title says took my 2010 MCS in for a CEL that came on.
I was under the impression when I bought the MINI that when I took it in for repairs I would get a comparable car while it was in for service. This MINI dealer had enterprise pick me up and I ended up with a crappy Nissan Versa. He stated if I wanted a dodge challenger I would have to pay more for it. I think this MINI dealer is cutting corners. The rental guy told me honda bought the BMW and MINI dealer and took the courtesy cars away. He said the BMW people freak when he walks them up to the Versa LOL
Don't mean to sound like a baby I appreciate getting a rental, BUT the MINI dealer I bought it from offered a MINI or BMW...........I might take it to a different dealer for service next time since both are about an hour away from me.
Just curious what others thoughts were. I was also told the rental is only covered for 1 day.

I'm based in Atlanta. Global Imports Mini has provided me with a Mini Cooper to drive both times I've left my car for service. I have no complaints. If you've got another option that gives you decent loaners, I'd do that and just tell the other dealership why they are losing your business.

loaners are a dealer thing - not a MINI or BMW thing
if they are giving you ANYTHING you're doing better than some
fist time I took my bought new 02-S in for service they too had promised a MINI but were out so took me to a rental place who put me in a Lincoln Town Car! I asked if it came with tug boats . . .

Everytime we bring our cars to the dealers, they always give us another MINI to drive. However, none of the loaners are turbo. Also different dealers have different policies. At MINI of Peabody, we have to fill up the tank before returning or they will charge $5/gallon to your credit card. At Inskip MINI, they charge a flat fee of $12 for the loaner to cover for gas.

When mine was still under factory warranty, I always either received a MINI or BMW. But based on them actually FIXING the problem I would either pay or not pay for the fuel...my argument was simple. The car that I purchased and you warrantied, broke...you didn't fix it the first time so I have to take my time, my fuel and bring it back....so FIX it the first time.
Think I filled the loaner car up once during the warranty period.
sad...

my dealer has a loaner fleet ... minis and bmws, but if they run out, they rent a car for you at no cost
if you get a mini/bmw, they pay for the gas, unless you have it for an extened period ... then you pay for fillups
if you get a rental, standard options apply, pay for the tank upfront or return it full
scott
my dealer has a third option ... they will drive you to where you need to be and pick you up when the service is complete

Thanks for the replies. I guess a few posters didn't comprehend the part where I stated I appreciated getting "anything"
I was just looking to see what others consumers experience was at various dealers. I think my manhood will survive driving the Versa for a few days. The real problem is what's going on with my MINI.
I have to drive an hour north or south to get to my nearest dealer. If both dealers provide good service and one offers a MINI as a rental...........well call me a snob then, but I would rather drive a MINI, after all that's why I bought the overpriced little funbox!

New country mini in Hartford ct will give a loaner out but you have to schedule the Mai tangency in advance to reserve a loaner, usually a week and a half or 2 weeks in advance. If you bring it in without scheduling an appointment and they have an extra they will give it to you, but usually they are booked.
They also can drive you to work and pick you up after when the car is done if you don't have a loaner

All my loaners from both MINI of Peabody and MINI of Bedford (Both owned by Lyon Waugh Group) have been turbo models. 3 Countryman S, Clubman S, and Hardtop S. Even when our Justa is in we always have had S models.

MINI is fixed. Supposedly had a cracked spark plug on Cylinder 2
They stated that's what caused the super knock as well. We will see.
