Tire size question

2010 MCS. I'd like to install a slightly wider tire without getting a taller sidewall (if I can ever get rid of my brand new Pirelli RF). I am looking at a
205-50 /17 Hancock Ventus V12. My car is not lowered. Will this size rub anywhere in the inside or outside? Thanks for your time.

Installing a 205/50-R17 will not be an issue if you are not lowering the vehicle.

Thanks Erik. I've got a couple of messages from Motoring Alliance strongly suggesting a 215/45 tires. Isn't that much taller than the 205/45' Thanks again.

Stock size is 205/45/17

A 205/50/17 would be .4 inches taller than stock, resulting in a speedometer reading 3.3% too slow.

A 215/45/17 would be .2 inches taller than stock, resulting in a speedometer reading 1.5% too slow.

This is a taller tire not a wider tire. As recommended, use 215/45 17 which is a wider tire that is just slightly taller.

205 or 215 is the width of the tire in mm

Mini speedo is very optimistic anyway, about 4% generally, so the correction gets you closer to actual speed.

Like state already a 205/50-17 is a taller tire. If you want wider go with a 215/45-17. It will be 10mm wider and only .25 inches taller.

I really need to stop sniffing glue...For some reason I thought the smaller number was the width by being a percentage of the wheel diameter...Forgive gents, old age is a *****. One more question: will they interfere with a 19mm swaybar?
Thanks again.

I ran into a similar concern while shopping for wheels/tires. I too did not wish to have any speedo errors (so I thought) so I used TireRack.com to find my stock tires' diameter. I then searched for a 18" tire that matched that diameter and BAM! I wound up with 215/35-18's.

You may not be shopping for 18's but use the website to find the same diameter as your stock set up.

Oh and my speedo reads 3 MPH fast too with OEM and aftermarket wheels/tires.
