Does anyone know if the Factory Security System can be installed after you have the mini and did not order the car with it. I did not order my car with the security system but might want to at some point add it just not sure if I can have the dealer install the factory system or not. I don't know if it is something easy to do or not. Any info would be great. thanks

 

I ordered mine without the factory alarm and the Las Vegas Mini dealer stated that it can only be installed from the factory when it is scheduled for production.

 

Yes it can be added later. But in 2010 they stopped prewiring the car so newer cars are more expensive to install it.

 

So with me having a 08 MCS I can upgrade to the alarm?

Well... It may appear to be what's said but I was told by the deal that after it leaves the factory, factory upgrades couldn't be installed but I got the just of it thanks

 

I ordered my 2008 from the factory with no alarm. Before it arrived at the dealer I changed my mind. They installed it when it showed up. So in a 2008 the dealer can install it for sure. Now later ones they can't. My 2011 had to be installed at the factory.

My '08 was purchased used without a factory alarm and I had the dealer install it.
