how much loss?
I find I can have a tire almost 10 pounds low and the system won't kick on, but when I got a REAL flat it DID come on as advertised . . ..
Most complaints are from it being too sensitive!

Something like from 35 psi to 25 Psi and no yellow light on

i run a 6psi frt/rear differential, 42 psi front, 36 psi rear and get no tpms light
when i rotated the tires, i left the pressures where they were and drove the car to see if the tpms system would alarm when the tires suddenly went from 42F/36R to 36F/42R, nope, no alarm and no alarm when i adjusted the pressures back to 42F/36R

I used to have an '09, which I traded in for my '11 had. It had a problem with the right front tire. It would constantly lose air in the winter so I had to fill it every couple of days (no problem in any other season), but the light would come on when is lost about 10 lbs.
Okay so here is what I have been told by the dealer. The pressure in the tire needs to fall below like 8 PSI for it to trigger. But this only helps if you reset the system after a tire pressure check. So here is what I did:
Checked and filled cold tires to my personal preference. Reset the system.
I bought new wheels and tires and the tire store (name omitted) did not tighten down the TPMS very well and by the time I reached about 15 miles out the red warning lights on the tach lit up like a Christmas tree. I ran back to the tire store and there was under 20 psi in 3 of the 4 tires.
If you find that you are filling up your tires all the time I would put a socket and a 1/4" drive on the valve stem and tighten them. The TPMS can be a very frustrating system.
