First autocross with new Swaybar

I installed an H-sport Competition rear swaybar for my JCW. Today was the first autocross with it. After the first run I was not sure as the car felt a lot loser. However after a couple of runs I was really getting on well with it and was actually trying to get even more rotation. This was a very fast course with no slaloms however. I have the bar set on medium. I don't really think I need to go up to the stiffest setting and am wondering if I should run a little more rear tire pressure to fine tune the rear rotation before messing with a stiffer setting.

I am currently running stock dunlop performance runflats at 38psi. At some point I will run a second wheel/tire combo but still choose a tire to run in stock class.

Post this in the suspension forum - what size bar?

Be careful because you will get over rotation if you lift on the throttle in a turn if you move the bar up to a stiffer setting

The H-sport comp bar is a 25mm hollow bar equivalent to 22mm. Moderators, can you move this to suspension?

That is what I do - pushing the rear pressures into the 50-54 psi range depending on the course.

Returning the rear pressures to 38 calms the back end down, and ensures that I don't have problems on the street due to lift throttle over steer.

Cheers,

Charlie

+1 to using tire pressure to dial in the back end behavior.

this photo by Eddie Savage shows me quite a lot about what the back end is doing. A bit of zoom and there are some things that stand out - (1) about half the tire on the left side on both the front and rear are not contacting the pavement, and (2) the right rear is working really hard, with some sidewall flex evident despite the 52 pounds of air. It's a pretty good illustration of weight transfer in a car with a stiff setup. The car was accelerating when the picture was taken.

You can air the tires up to about 50psi, but it's pretty easy to adjust the bar to stiff, I would adj the bar

Way,

By going stiffer with the bar does the front end tend to start to loose traction? I was reading a couple posts where the driver felt the traction out of the corners was compromised with a really stiff setting.
