Normally that is an indication that you have tripped one of the brake wear sensors indicating that you need service.

Since your sig states you have a 2010 I am assuming you are under warranty. Take it to the dealer.

If you want to get more info, you can press the button on the turn signal lever and go into info mode. Press and hold until the service-info comes up. Release and press again. It should show you a picture of either the front half or rear half of the car and that lets you know which sensor you tripped.

It did say on. I finally located my owners manual, and it states an electrical failure. So I made a appointment to take it to Mini.

After some searching on this grate forum I discovered how to retrieve the service messages, and it has indicated the rear brakes. Unfortunately my 36000 mile service warranty is long over. I've order new pads and brake ware sensors and will tackel the brake job when I receive the parts.

I was under the impression 'newer' Mini's had 4yr/50k mi warranties(?). My 08 just fell out of warranty this last June.

Random thought: Are you really hard on brakes?

Ironically enough, my yellow brake light came on last night, after snooping through the service menu I found that my rear brakes flagged the light (42k mi).

Yes they do have a 4yr/50K mile "WARRANTY" but the "MAINTENANCE" plan which covers wear items is only good for 36K Miles.

Holy crap. Please excuse my ignorance, I did not read your post entirely and replied. You are correct. I will shut up now
