Currently, Getrag makes the manual transmissions.

Aisin makes the automatic transmissions.

MINI assembles the motors, I believe. (Not as sure on that.)

I think the engines are assembled in the UK. I have a post on the content here somewhere from when I bought mine. My sticker said engine was from France. But everything I could find said engine was made in the UK. So I gather thay mean assembled in the UK.

Other posters are correct on Trannies. Manual Getrag and auto Aisin. Have fun.

The engine components (well, the block at least) are made in France but the engine is assembled in the UK.

FYI the "basic" Mini depends on what country you're in. In the USA, it's the MINI Cooper. In other countries the Cooper is the 3rd one up on the list!

I thought the OP's question would be a simple one to answer.

I just read on the Internet (so bound to be true) that the GenII MINI Prince engines were jointly developed by BMW and Peugeot-Citroen, and the versions that go in the MINIs are assembled in Hams Hall (love it) in Birmingham, England.

GenI MINI Tritec engines were built in Brazil by Chrysler-Rover.

Classic Mini engines were built in the Black Forest by elves.

Wouldn't that be built by elves in the ancient Forest of Arden?

That's a matter of opinion. I'd take a MINI D over everything else, if it were available here.
