Arm Rest Fix

Use a 1/4" square piece of self stick velcro on both sides of the notch at the front end of the armrest(top and bottom).Although not perfect, it works most of the time.

I just bought a used 07 MCS with the sliding armrest and the previous owner had screwed a little piece of metal to the slide part and the siler part to it wouldn't open at all. I took the screw out of the armrest part and left the screw in the silver part, so when I wanna open it I just reach back and rotate the little piece of metal down and then flip it back up when I'm done in there.

We have that one in our R56. The only problem is it really gets in the way of the hand brake and doesn't swing fully out of the way.

My solution was to jam my work ID badge in it. The problem then was that they wouldn't let me in at work. Not that I should have let that be a problem. ;-)

Ok, I may just have cracked this problem...
I used a heat gun to warm up the jaws that "trap" the notch attached to the sliding arm rest, then (wearing gloves) pinched them together, just a little.
After it had cooled (about 20 mins) and hardened again... The slider "sticks" in the narrowed jaws, not coming open!!

Try it... Thank me later!!

I've got one of those. I hate it. It interferes with the hand-brake AND shifting (manual).

I'm thinking about seeing if I can turn it around... or just removing it.

I saw some article on the web where a guy super glued rare earth magnets to the underside of the lid and to the inset on the storage console. Claims that it worked like a charm. I like the heat gun idea first and foremost though.

Why... here it is here...

I totally agree with the hand brake issue. As far as the shifter, I am running an Alta SSK and it is as low as it will go and I do not have any problems. I would rather have an armrest then not. It drives me nuts not having something there. If I do more track racing I might take it out.
