Which K&N Filter?

Could any body help me here? I was wondering which one would be the best K&N Cold Air Intake for my Cooper. Its a Non-S, so i cant add anything that would obviously be for a turbo. So their are two of them I am looking at, the first is the CAI Typhoon, and then the CAI Apollo. If you guys could tell me which would be the best, please tell me. Thanks
Benzo

The typhoon looks like a better made intake that will end up with a cleaner install.

I'm not sure what type of gains you will see with either of those as K&N doesn't post dyno charts for their products, but i would go with the typhoon.

Hi All,

I've got the exact same question...does anyone have any insight on this? I sent an email to k&n for some HP & mileage data and am waiting to hear back.

Cheers,

Jimmy Y

My personal preference:

The filter made out of paper, that you don't have to oil up. And that you get from the dealer, or your favorite supplier of stock parts.

I don't like K&Ns, I feel (rightly or wrongly, lots of debate on this matter!) that they let too much dirt through. And they make it far too easy to contaminate anything in the intake tract (like an air flow meter!) with oil.

Hi there,

I just checked K&N's web site to find a right air filter for my non s 2012 mc and the result was 33-2386 ( if you check their web site you gonna get same result.!) I ordered the air filter which has been suggested by K&N. When I tried to change my stock filter I realized that K&N filter even not close to original filter's size and shape.!

I found a post about K&N filter on forum, there is someone who has succesfully installed K&N filter on his non s mc but the filter he has used listed for 2007 cooper on K&N's web site.! The filter's product code is 33-2941 and the filter is exactly same with mine.! you can check photos below.

Now I'm really confused about filters, why my 2012 cooper compatible with 2007 cooper's filter ??

Ditto, I've used K&N's in other cars and I think any performance gains are hogwash. I'd stick with the paper filters from the dealer.
