Jumped out of first, should I be worried?

Yesterday I experienced a first with my car - when I was stopped at a light and started to out, my car jumped out of first gear. It didn't do it after that and this is the first time it's happened (I'm at 40k).

I have an appointment with the dealer on Wednesday to get my warranty water pump replacement done and I'm not sure if I should bring it up or not (I don't want them to "find" something wrong with it). My thinking is that I was being lazy and didn't push it in gear all the way, plus the combination of it not being fully warmed up (it happened about 1/2 a mile from the start point), might have been the cause.

I'm running an 07 MCS. Has anyone else run into this?

i'm guessing you had the experience of being in 1/2 gear. like you weren't fully in first and when you tried to go it popped back out. This is the problem with these forums is they highlight everything wrong and people tend to fear everything.

Just go enjoy the car and don't say anything. if it recurs, then worry

Thanks. I guess after everything that has gone wrong with my car that I'm a bit paranoid (two tensioner chains, stuck valves causing one of the cylinder heads to burn, oil burning off like crazy).

Welcome to the MINIsanity. Let the dealer know as long as you are there. Then you will have piece of mind. I agree with the Dr. probably not all the way in gear. But better to be safe then sorry. Post some pics. Enjoy

I agree it's probably nothing but if my car was getting close to the end of its warranty I'd want to get this documented on a work order just in case the tranny gives you trouble later.
