Where is the MINI engine made?

Everything I read on the MINIUSA page and Motorfile site talks about the engine being made at Hams Hall (In the UK right?). The giant sticker that has my MSRP price and build info says the engine is from France. I know the engine is a joint design between BMW and Puegeut(sp). So do they make some engines in the UK and some in France?

I know its not important really, but I would like to know. Total curiousity.

Where is the MINI engine made?

BTW the transmission is from Japan. And UK parts content is only 30% (25% French). I wonder if BMW is slowly phasing out the UK stuff. Thoughts?

There are other threads about this... it says France because that is where the parts came from. The engine is built in England. I'm going to check mine later now since you made me curious.

The manual tranny is from Germany, the auto box Japan.

That is a JCW. That is why I want to check out mine to see if JCW engines still made in Germany as opposed to justa/S models that are made in England.

EDIT: I realize I don't have a sticker or printout like you guys do. doh.

Interesting that your JCW says "Germany". My '09 Cooper definitely says 'France' for Engine.

My understanding is,the block is made in France, and the engine is assembled in England, and as already noted the JCW is made in Germany.I don't know, but i would imagine the block for the JCW also is made in France, and assembled in Germany.Q

Interesting subject. Is there a link to an article or a thread where it mentions the different places the engines, trannys and final assembly are done for each model year? I know this is a R56 forum but my R53 said the tranny was built in Germany and the engine in Brazil and final assembly in UK. Did all that change in 07 with the second generation?

There was a change in the the engine and automatic transmission. The engine was changed I think in 2007. Not sure about the transmission.

If you research NAM and Motoringfile for prince engine you should find details.

Is that from your sticker? If so, that would be interesting. Presuming it is, I wonder if it has something to do with yours being an S.

Same here. Window stickers on both of our 2013 JCW's read that the engines are sourced from Germany...
