I just purchased some touch up paint for my wife's Sparkling Silver Metallic. When I opened the bottle, the paint looks black. I presume this is a mislabeled bottle, but I want to make sure with you guys. Mini touch up paint doesnt change color when it dries right? LOL. I bought it from Prestige Mini via Ebay.

Does it tell you to shake / mix the bottle?
Have you tried some on a sheet of scrap to test and compare?

Put the bottle in your pocket and let it get warm then you need to shake the crap out of it for a good bit, if you open it after that and it is still black looking take it back, they have misslabled it.
Silver does have black toners in it, but the paint won't change colors when dry.

 

Is Prestige Mini doing weird things again?

 

Thanks for the responses. Prestige sent me a replacement bottle free and told me to keep the mislabeled one.
Any idea what color black the mislabeled bottle is? How many versions of black does/did Mini have?

 

They have astro black and midnight black. Astro black is blueish black. Had to come from the manufacturer that way....the label on the bottle says silver.

 

IIRC from a MINI trivia dinner at Mickey and MINI, the count was something like 6 blacks (many more than I expected).

 

Since you have a metallic paint, you need to shake, shake, shake that bottle every time you want to use it to re-mix the metallic particles into the paint. Better to shake too much rather than less.
