Radiator Fan

Just wondering, up until a few days ago after driving 30 miles or so and stopping (shutting off car), my radiator fan would come on for about 1 minute and shut off. The past 2 days it hasn't come on at all. Engine doesn't feel any hotter than normal and coolant level is up.
My question is, will the car display any CEL if the fan motor isn't functioning???
Temps have been 40's in the morning and around 70 in afternoon.
Thanks in advance.

Depending on the amount of load you put on the engine prior to shut-down will affect if the water temperature is hot enough for the radiator fan to turn on or not.

No; the radiator fan is not apart of the federally mandated OBDII fault codes.
If the radiator fails to operate, you will not see a CEL.

More than likely you radiator fan is a-ok.
The ECU only runs the fan after shut-down if the coolant temperature sensor sees a temp higher than operating temp.

^^^Thank you for the info. I think I'll run it a little further tomorrow morning and check it. Makes sense about the CEL not displaying, du.

Yes the fan may start up for a few minutes when the engine is warm. My previous justa Cooper did that all the time.

Now with the new JCW, the fan never turns on after I shut the engine off - at least not so far with fall and winter weather. Only the turbo water pump continues to run.
