spray paint mirror cap?

As you see the attached, there are alot of scratches on my mirror cap.
I'm kinda in two minds. one of mind is to use the black color of plasti dip or buy the same color of mirror cap's touch up paint. If I buy plasti dip and spray on mirror cap, would it look good?
what do you guys think?
What would you do?

I would spray the covers black. Have you painted before? What color is the rest of the car?

I like Pepper White. You should check to see if one of the site sponsors carry spray paint. Or I've ordered from this company before. The paint is factory matched.

I don't know about rattle canning them but, if that is what you want go for it. If they are white I would stick with white because this whole black out crap is really throwing a lot of MINIs off. If you have a white top stick with white or body color.

I actually just did this the other day, I started with 120 grit sand paper and worked my way up to 220. The mirror cap should be smooth to the touch. Use water on the mirror cap and to wash off your sand paper, this saves time and sand paper. Once that's done give it two coats, I only waited about an hour between both. After they are completely dry resand them again with 220 grit sand paper, this makes everything perfectly even and is also the most crucial step. After you're done sanding the paint give it one more coat(or two if you want to, I didnt need to). And make sure the paint is COMPLETELY dry before putting them back on. I did this and you can't tell from six inches away that it's not from the factory.

Plastidipped Mirror Caps

I picked up my BRG/W Hardtop last fall and my dad was complaining about the car looking like a toy. We looked at the WC50 car which has CF mirror caps instead of white, CF hood scoop instead of BRG, and Black grill surrounds instead of chrome. Just for kicks I plastidipped all three in 3-4 thin coats of Matte black after a quick cleaning with methanol. 10K later I still have it on there. Mirror caps and hood scoop have held up well and developed a more satin look with age which has sorta grown on me. The grill surround is a higher impact area and I have had to touch up two small "chips" in the rubber coating with a quick spray but other than that I think I am going to leave the parts as is indefinitely, or till I can get some CF parts on the cheap. I will take some close ups after washing the car later but here are some lowQ before and afters I had on my phone. They aren't great but do show the difference in glossy vs satin finish well. Overall I highly recommend plastidipping first if you are considering painting/buying replacement OEM parts for a sneak peak which may end up sticking around.

OP: Before grabbing that cheap, non-catalyzed aerosol can and cobbing up a good car, have you tried compounding the mirror caps? Mine looked at least as bad as yours when I got my car. A little 800 grit rubbing compound (by hand, on a cloth towel), followed up by a coat of cleaner wax, and the scratches are no longer noticeable.

You found a Rustoleum White to match Pepper White? Also, for the sanding, you wet sanded with the 120 and 220 grit?

use plastidip so you can peel it off if you don't like the way it came out. they sell plastidip in a spray can at lowes and home depot, white and black options. it's a durable paint so there is much less chipping. no prep work needed on the caps if you don't want, though i highly suggest dish soap and warm water with a thorough hair dryer drying. key with pd is to paint in an ambient temperature of at least 65-70 degrees, do a light even coat, let dry, continue the process, don't put too much on at once or it will run. either way, once dry (about a half hour at least) you can just peel it off and do it again! best trim/molding paint ever made IMO. Have been using it for years.

Don't paint them white, you'll never match the body colour and it will be very noticeable.
For that reason, go black, or even neon green, or some crazy accent colour that makes you happy.
The side mirrors take a beating from road debris, look at anyone with chrome mirror caps, and then you'll decide that yours look fine. So you'll be repainting ever other year, unless you keep them nice and waxy smooth.
You could paint, or plastidip if you're half decent with a rattle can. or just wrap them with vinyl.
You can

First PD'd them black and they turned out great. Then decided on red and got the same great results. PS I masked off the mirrors.
