R56 Best engine mod for the money
Best engine mod for the money
Im looking to do a few quick and easy upgrades, what is the best and most worth while mod you guys have found? As in the best bang for the buck. Or just the biggest bhp increase per dollar.
Unless you have a 2011.........

The best bang for the buck mods for an R56 are the NM torque arm bushing, and an Hsport rear sway bar.
Color is very important. Even the smallest cheapest mod on a Chilli Red car will add a hundred horsepower!
Buy my count, I have to be up to a thousand HP by now!

Funny, it doesn't feel any faster, though.

I wouldn't even THINK about nitrous with stock cars blowing pistons.
If I wanted to get big power on an R56, I would get a combination of a Howerton Engineering HFS-3, a high flow downpipe, and a custom tune (RMW or similar).
Also, a catch can and NM Torque arm insert.

Whatever a 50 maybe even a 75 shot would be fine. Its people putting too much boost in them for long periods that are blowing stuff up.
Yes that's true, although it's not really the extra boost, it's detonation and heat. More boost means more cylinder pressure, and usually more heat. Even though nitrous cools the cylinder down, the pressure is much higher than extra boost.
How long do the cars last?
Haha yeah to be honest, for me, modifying the R56 is more about getting safe power than extracting every last bit from the engine. They're just too finnicky. If you want raw power, I would suggest another car to be honest. I have no problem with people trying to squeeze everything they can from any car, but to the majority of people who don't know too much about cars, I would recommend minimising the possibility of engines getting FUBAR, as these cars aren't slow.

They will come on here and talk about it, but never show pictures or documentation too.
The reason I am not doing it is because I have no need for N20, so don't ask.
Ya and what gain 30 maybe 40 HP for a couple grand? Or you could spend $400 and get a 50hp increase whenever you want it. Best bang for the buck means spend the least amount of money and gaining the most amount of horsepower. N2O is ok to use if you are not over spraying a stock motor. Now if you built the motor with better internals and then you can put a higher shot into and still spend less then what you just posted.

Also, I'm sure the OP meant bang for buck without blowing a piston through the bonnet. HFS-3 will ensure NO carbon buildup on the intake valves, and will allow the car to run safely ANYWHERE, on the track, in the heat, on the road.
Do you see any N2O on R56 motors anywhere that run safely with a 50 shot? Have any tests or data logging been done to ensure safe running?
If I wanted to track my R56, I would get a water/meth kit over a nitrous kit, and so would a lot of other track users who don't want to have to rebuild an engine to get a similar amount of power.
