R56 What are my options for OEM tail lights?
What are my options for OEM tail lights?
Hey everyone, it's that time of the year again...time to buy the girlfriend more stuff for her beloved Mini for Christmas. Last year she loved the Garmin with the OEM mount. This year, she's been repeatedly hinting at how much she loves the tail lights of the other Mini that's parked in our lot that doesn't have the amber turn signal area like hers does.
She has a 2010 Cooper (non-s, Mayfair Edition) and has told me she's seen a few different styles of tail lights, some that are all red, some with a white turn signal area, etc. So what are my options if I want to order an OEM set of lights that doesn't have the amber circle in the center?
And if you can point me to an exact P/N or a place to find the P/N that would be even more awesome.
Thanks!
Gernard

For a 2010, there are only two styles of OEM tail lights: amber or white turn signal lenses.
The part numbers are here: http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...96&hg=63&fg=20
During the 1st generation MINI, there were several styles including all-red, but they are incompatible with a 2010 Cooper.

Kevin C, nope don't know who that is, but I see you have a Z4M, which I also have and frequent the Zpost forums a lot, so maybe you've seen my name there?
rkw, THANKS, that's perfect! I should have just realized I could look at realoem, considering I do that for my BMW's...thanks for linking it for me!

I really like the look of the 2011/2012 tail lights with their glowing filament looking LED illuminated optics. I have heard that they are incompatible with the older R56s, though. Anyone know if it's possible?
We can sell you the OEM ones with the clear turn signal. But we haven't tried to install the LED ones in an early car yet. I'd be happy to try if someone brings us a car to test it out.
WMW:
How much would a set of those newer taillights cost? I'd love to come and get them installed... But I'm in Chicago.

Personally, I don't think it's worth it because those accent strips are the only part of the tail light that is LED. The brake, turn indicator, and running light are standard bulbs.
