ok, so the initial trick worked and then the light came back on about 150 miles later ... once ... reset it ... went off again ... and now back again.

i guess I do need brake pads though

what are good replacement pads that people have been using for everyday use? but not going the OEM route

will need front AND rears replaced ... do I need to get sensors as well?

any online stores sell the entire kit for MINI's?

sorry for all the questions but it will be my first attempt to do this myself.

Zimmerman Brake Rotors R55 R56 R57 R58 R59 Cooper NON S

Put these on...Way Motor Works set me up!! I did have new Sensors put on as well, Dealer did the install. As far as performance I couldn't be happier, getting ready to order the exact same set up for the rears, Sensors down to 3mm even though OBC says I won't need them for 13,000mi.

thanks, that price at Way Motor Works seems very steep...

I see these Zimmerman Rotors for about $100-120 (pair) all over the web
http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sk...gs+Best+Seller

what makes the one at WMW $180?

I don't want to use the brake wear sensors but I haven't been able to make the red BRAKE light turn off. I wrapped the ends of the wires together on the right-front and did the same on the back. I can't find a wire for a brake sensor on the left-front, is there one?

I also used the method in the video linked above to reset the brake service interval which seemed to work but the light still did not turn off. Any other ideas?

Does the EBC Red Stuff pads have less brake dust versus other brands? I want a pad that has equal stopping power as oem but without the dust!

Before you put EBC pads on your MINI do a search on pad separation failures.

Actually I'm aware of this pad separation failures which is why I'm waiting for EBC to start moving their updated pads that use a different method for avoiding the pad separation failures. These pad separation failures could get someone dead! I'll be very patient, one or more years.

My wife's RED brake light came on the other day ('08 MCSa). I assumed it was the brake sensor thing as the car has 60k miles on the original brakes. I got in the car today and noticed she is also getting the symbol showing the car up on a rack. I checked the manual and it says it's a "vehicle electronics failure" and not to continue your journey.

So she's put about 300 miles on the car since the light came on. Anybody out there ever seen this indicator and what the problem might be? I will add that she still has the original battery which I have heard that as the battery gets close to dying that you can get some weird things happening.

If you have a brake warning do not continue to drive the MINI until you find the cause.

Is there enough brake fluid in the master cylinder?

Have you inspected the brake pads?

Do those things & report back.

The car up on the rack may simply mean it is time for a brake fluid change.

Brake fluid level is ok. Changing oil and checking brake sensor now. Will post my findings later this evening.

I think the brake fluid trips a warning at 2 years regardless of mileage.

So the brake fluid is ok. Took the calipers off and pulled the sensor out and it hadn't even started to wear on the plastic. Reassembled everything and went through the reset procedure and now no lights. I guess it was for a brake fluid change. Hopefully the brake light stays off.

If it is time for a brake fluid change do it. Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time lowering the boiling point of the fluid. It also promotes corrosion in the braking system. It's not a very difficult job.
