Has Anyone Gotten One of These Service Light Reset Tools to Work?

I bought the BMW Service Light Reset tool shown (thankfully, it was only $25). Followed the instructions. The lights blinked as the instructions said they would. But the service reminder light remains blissfully lit every time I start up. Has anyone been able to successfully use this tool?

Hm. I'd try the link above. That's the way I use to reset my service intervals. Not sure why the tool wouldn't work?

That tool is for older BMWs like E36, E39, etc. Not for for the R55/56/57/58/59/60 Coopers or 2004+ 5 seriers, 2006+ 3 series, etc.

For these cars you need to use the Trip Odometer button reset method or use DIS/ISTA software.

That makes sense. Of course, it is sold as working with the R56. Oh, well.

I was able to reset the brake light and service light using the techniques found in the UTube videos. Interestingly, some videos say to only press the right button on the tach, and others say to press both. I tried it both ways, and found I had to press both buttons; pressing one didn't work. Also, I found that the door had to be shut for the process to work correctly.

Bottom line: when using the trip odometer button method of resetting the service lights, try the different procedures found in the videos posted on UTube. I don't think you can break anything. If you could, I would have done it.

When they say no two MINIs are alike, I sometimes think they are also referring to how they are built and wired.
