2011 MCS clutch/driveline question

I just purchased my new MINI this past Monday so I'm still getting used to it's unique characteristics. I have noticed two things that I'm unsure if it's just the way these cars are or if it's an issue of concern.

1. When accelerating up the RPM band (up to 6000) and shifting through the gears it "seems" like the clutch pedal doesn't return as fast. It doesn't hang or stick but it "seems" like it doesn't return as fast as it when I'm just cruising around.

2. I find that taking off from a stop that the car tends to bog before getting underway unless I give it some real throttle input.

Are these common/normal observations among you other owners?

Thanks

For question 2, that doesn't seem that unusual for a 4-cyl car. My last car needed a tiny little throttle input when starting from a standstill.

Nope never heard of any of these things. I would just drive it. I think number 1 may just be your imagination.

For number 2 do you drive with the sport button on? If not I would. It gives the throttle more sensitivity. It is a turbo charged car just give it some gas and go. I don't think I would worry about any of those things. I would just drive the car.

I go back and forth between Sport; but I get what you're saying. I'll just monitor these things for now. As I get used to the car I'm sure I'll be able to better discern what is or is not normal.

Thanks!

Some people break em in like they plan to drive them. I don't. I follow the break in procedure in the owners manual. But I can't remember what it says for max rpm and thus did not comment.

Break-in wasn't an issue of concern for me. My car was an untitled dealership retired loaner that had 5000 miles on it when I purchased it. Sold to me as new with all recommended break-in already performed and the purchase included an additional 6 months on to my full manufacturer warranty.
