My Amazon Sourced manual showed up today. It is a beautiful thing and for less than $90 its even more beautiful!

I've used mine to locate the Gasket that was replaced at MINI of Portland on Wednesday, she through a CEL for her 4th P013A...after much diagnostics and a PUMA Case opened, they determined that she had an Exhaust Leak at this Gasket which turned out to be cracked.

I just received my Bentley R56 manual and 2 things immediately leaped out :
1. Why are only the 1st 15 pages on glossy paper? I can understand it for a paper-bound manual but not hard-bound. Even my Motors manuals are on glossy paper.
2. The first page I happened to open to (020-26) was for oil service and it has the wrong size socket called out for the oil filter housing cover, i.e., a 36mm socket instead of the correct 27mm.
What else is wrong in this manual? Can it be trusted?

 

Thats why I'm waiting for the revised version. I'm still under warranty so its all good....

 

They've only had 5 years to get it wrong this time.

 

Something about the R56 platform; the novelty has worn off and some vendors just aren't making as much of an effort.

Thanks for the catch. Now I'll have to scan through at least those repairs I'm familiar with and see if the error you caught is indicative of the rest of the manual.
