Lots of play in steering

Hi guys,

Not sure if this has been covered before. I did go back through a lot of the threads but I can't see it listed (apologies if it has been discussed!)

I've driven an '02 justa for the last 5 years. I've now moved on to an '08 MCSa and I've noticed that the '08 has a LOT more play in the steering. Even when I push the sport button it seems to have a lot of play. I test drove an '09 MCSa and didn't notice as much play(especially in sport mode, the steering was really tight)

Am I just not used to the new car? Or do you think there could be an issue. It's still under warranty, do you think MINI would take a look at it and not charge me? I've never had a car with a warranty before so I'm not really sure how that works.....sorry!!!!!

Cheers!

IMO - there should be NO play.

I've recently read about a possibly contributor to your problem. Check out the Front Control Arm Bushings. Notorious for going bad, or soft. Easier mod on the 2nd Gen's. Should be covered under waranty - but, from all I've read, warranty coverage seems to be individualized on a per-dealer basis

There should be no play. Sport mode should be quite tight, in fact.

Thanks. I'll definitely get them to check the front control arm bushings
